Late Chola – 12th Century – Tamil Nadu

This is a figure of Devi standing in the tribhanga posture on a double lotus circular pedestal. The right hand is in kataka-mudra; the left in lolahasta. The matted hair is dressed high has thirteen braided curls hanging back. She wears a tiara and a fillet, makara-kundalas in both ears, garlands on each shoulder, necklaces, armlets and other ornaments above the elbows, three bracelets, finger rings and anklets.
